Vehicle Description This 1978 Mercedes Benz 450 SL is a true find.
The current owner bought the car from an older lady that lost her husband.
He kept it in a climate controlled garage.
They had money.
The 107's had a recall years ago that the fix was to weld steel to the front subframe.
The previous owner paid to have the new upgrade style subframe installed.
The current owner found this out when he a restoration shop replace the steering shaft assembly the car because the steering wheel had play in it.
That cost him $2000.
He has had the car in his collection for 5 or 6 years.
He bought it with 64,000 miles and it now has 66,341.
It is a truely spectacular car and as original as they get.
All the way down to the 'bag phone antenna' on the right rear quarter.
If you look very closely at the hood from straight above, you can see the original paint checking a little bit.
It is very hard to see.
The wire wheels have Benz emblems but the current owner is not sure if they are original.
They are in ok shape.
The current owner has the original hard top for the car.
